My slight sticking point is with:

Quote:
Do you believe that only things which can be demonstrated to be true are valid beliefs.

I think I know why this is foolishness but I'm not sure.

I think it's kind of a trap question.

And also, if something is demonstrably true, then surely it's a fact? Facts do not require belief. You can believe what you like - The sun travels round the earth, the earth's core is filled with marshmallows, whatever - but scientific fact says that you're wrong and in fact Earth orbits the Sun which in turn orbits the Galactic centre and the Earth's core is molten rock.

LATER:
I looked at some forum posts you linked to, and discovered this little gem:

syetenb wrote:
The argument is that God is the precondition of intelligibility. If the Bible were untrue, you could never know that it was untrue, because you lose the foundations of intelligibility with which you criticize it

Wow. Just wow.

Yeah. His whole argument is circular. Everyone explains this to him all over the internet and he still doesn't get it.

Stephen Law rules though.

So it is! And now I have to ask the question - what has that got to do with anything on this thread?

Healthy Marshmallows?

Made from ground up angels, possibly?

No they're not. They stick to your teeth and give you AIDS. Or tooth decay. One of those things.

I don't drink coffee. Everyone knows this. Now everyone knows the depth of your deception!
