Long the target of much comedy as insufferable boring rubbish, I like his minimalist orchestral works. Have a listen to Koyaanisqatsi - it's all over YouTube. He also brought out a bunch of orchestral "interpretations" of David Bowie's Heroes and Low albums, the title of which was so confusing it was later parodied by Aphex Twin in his remix of both of them: Philip Glass's "Heroes" by David Bowie and Brian Eno by Aphex Twin.

Einstein on the Beach is cool, but his best stuff is on Koyaanisqatsi. I don't think the director of that movie realised that he was essentially compiling a video track to go with the music, rather than the other way around.
